Nando’s is not a Halal brand and does not pay fees for certification. However, several of our chicken suppliers carry Halal certification and our bastings are Halal.
Some of our franchised restaurants may choose to obtain individual Halal certifications and we encourage you to check with your local restaurant directly. Check out our Nando’s restaurant locator for these locations.

How we operate:
Our restaurant kitchens use two distinct cooking surfaces to cook chicken: the open flame-grill, commonly seen at the front of the restaurant; and a flat top grill, usually housed in the back of the kitchen area.
In Western Australia, our rib supplier is not Halal certified. Ribs are cooked on the same open flame-grill as our chicken on the bone products (quarter, half and full chickens) and grilled tenderloins. Therefore, no chicken on the bone products or grilled tenderloins would be suitable in Western Australia as they may make contact with ribs on the cooking surface.
In Queensland, our chicken supplier is not Halal. Therefore, no chicken products in our Queensland restaurants are Halal certified.
In Australia (except WA and QLD), our rib supplier is Halal certified and bacon is only cooked on the flat top grill. Our chicken on the bone products (quarter, half and full chickens) and grilled tenderloins and ribs are cooked on the open flame-grill. Therefore, chicken on the bone products, grilled tenderloins and ribs may be suitable for you in Australia (except WA and QLD) as they are cooked on a different surface to bacon.
Note that the chicken for burgers, wraps, pitas and salads are cooked on the flat top grill, but we’re happy to cook it on open flame-grill if you’d prefer, just let the restaurant team know.
